IRS Scam / Spoof / Phishing Call or Email Reporting
IRS Telephone Scam!! You may have received a call from a person or automated caller stating they are from the Internal Revenue Service. They are trying to get your personal information and some money payment. The IRS may call you (after you have received multiple letters from IRS), but they must give you an IRS call back number, an IRS ID number with their name. They will not try to get your personal information (they have that info already) and will not attempt to get banking information from you in this way. If you get a call of this nature, call your accountant, if you have one toi verify that this may relate to a tax issue. If you determine that this is a SPOOF call (99.9% of these calls are Phishing / Spoof calls) go to: http://www.treasury.gov/tigta/contact_report_scam.shtml and make a report to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration.
